SIGN UP AT THE 7TH SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON ANDEAN ORCHIDS CUSCO, NOVEMBER 27-29

Attention all orchid enthusiasts! Inkaterra Asociación is proud to announce venue and dates for the 7th Scientific Conference on Andean Orchids, which will take place in Peru for the first time this year. From November 27-29, 2023, the auditorium of the Universidad San Antonio Abad in the city of Cusco will host the main orchid event in the Andean region – an area known for its mega-biodiversity, including some of the most extraordinary orchid species in the world.

With a vast array of subjects involving orchid diversity, systematics, ecology, conservation and horticulture, the Scientific Conference on Andean Orchids summons the international community of researchers, conservation professionals, gardeners and orchid aficionados to promote the most recent advances on scientific studies and conservation of orchid species native to the region.

JOIN US IN TOM MIRENDA’S BOTANICAL EXPEDITION TO MACHU PICCHU

We invite all attendees at the 7th Scientific Conference on Andean Orchids to sign up for a fascinating botanical expedition to Machu Picchu guided by one of the world’s most respected and authoritative voices on orchids, Tom Mirenda.

Columnist for the American Orchid Society and a leader of the OGCN (Orchid Garden Conservation Network), Tom has been growing orchids professionally for over three decades. He has traveled the world to find both wild and cultivated orchids, and recently co-authored “The Book of Orchids” with collaborators from Kew. From November 30-December 3, right after the Conference, Tom Mirenda will share with you a masterclass on orchid observation while visiting majestic landscapes of the Peruvian Andes, including the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

INKATERRA FOUNDER JOSÉ KOECHLIN
CALLS FOR UNITY IN THE TOURISM INDUSTRY

The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Commerce and Tourism has shared on social media a message from Inkaterra founder José Koechlin, who was appointed chairman of the National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR) in December 2022.

“Throughout 14 years, tourism was the second source of income for Peru,” José Koechlin said. “Can tourism be once again a leading industry? Of course! What do we need to achieve it? We need to be all united, one force working together to make Peru great.”

José Koechlin’s message highlighting tourism as a source of development was widely praised, as it echoes the Peruvian industry’s efforts to keep thriving and sharing with the world Peru’s extraordinary cultural and natural wonders.
