Jose Koechlin
Chairman & CEO

A pioneer of ecotourism, profitable conservation, and sustainable development in Peru, José Koechlin founded Inkaterra in 1975 with the purpose of highlighting the country’s biodiversity and living cultures. As Chairman of the NGO Inkaterra Asociación, he has promoted numerous scientific inventories of flora and fauna, which have helped define the natural areas where Inkaterra’s hotels are located.
He currently serves as President of the National Chamber of Tourism of Peru (CANATUR) for the 2024–2026 term, and is an Emeritus Member of the Board of Conservation International (Washington, D.C.), from where he continues to support global conservation and sustainability initiatives.
Enrique Gamero
General Manager

With over twenty years of experience in the hospitality industry, Enrique has built a solid career managing luxury hotels in Peru, both in the private sector and in collaboration with government entities. He holds an MBA with a specialization in Administrative Management and Finance, and is known for aligning operational excellence with strategic vision.
As General Manager of Inkaterra, he oversees the management of its seven properties with a focus on results, sustainability, and quality service.
Sandra Masias
Product and Service Manager

Sandra leads the development and expression of Inkaterra’s identity through service and design, curating every detail—from scents and amenities to merchandising—so that each hotel reflects a distinct, personal character.
She holds a Master’s in Political Science from Georgetown University, a specialization in Hospitality Management from the Singapore Institute of Technology, and a degree in French Language and Culture from Paris-Sorbonne. Over the past 2 decades, she has opened seven hotels, including the first four Relais & Châteaux properties in Peru.
Sandra also produced two albums of Peruvian chill-out music—Café Inkaterra by Miki González (Gold Record) and Serenata Inkaterra by Jean-Pierre Magnet—which earned her a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Design.
Liza Masias
Marketing Director and Business Development

A graduate of Cornell University, Liza leads Inkaterra’s commercial strategy, acting as a bridge between internal teams and global industry partners to strengthen brand positioning and expand its presence in key tourism markets.
Her professional experience spans hotel management, conservation, fundraising, and corporate social responsibility, with a strong focus on sustainable development. Her approach combines strategic insight with in-depth sector knowledge to drive the growth of Inkaterra’s seven properties, both nationally and internationally.
Marlene Soto
Sales & Reservations Manager

With over 30 years of experience in the tourism industry and fluency in English, French, and Italian, Marlene has been part of Inkaterra since 1994. Throughout the years, she has gained extensive experience in sales, customer service, trade relations, and hotel operations, working across all seven properties of the brand.
She currently leads Inkaterra’s Sales & Reservations team, ensuring personalized and strategic service for both travel agencies and direct clients. Marlene represents the company at national and international trade shows, solidifying the brand’s position in major source markets. Her dedication to excellence and deep knowledge of the product make her a key pillar of the Inkaterra experience.
Luis Ernesto Matute
Resident Manager at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel & El MaPi byInkaterra

With a background in Tourism and Hospitality, Luis Ernesto has over fifteen years of experience in the industry, with a strong focus on Guest Services and Food & Beverage. He has worked in renowned hotels in Lima, Cusco, and Trujillo, as well as internationally in Arizona (USA) and Buenos Aires (Argentina), building a multicultural and operational vision of tourism.
Following a successful tenure as Resident Manager at El MaPi byInkaterra, he assumed the same role at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel. From there, he leads with a warm, efficient, and detail-oriented approach, ensuring a unique and memorable experience for travelers visiting this iconic destination.
Luisella Garmendia
Resident Manager at Inkaterra La Casona

With a certification in Hospitality Operations Management from Cornell University, Luisella brings seventeen years of experience in luxury hospitality and the airline industry. Her career has included roles in sales, front desk, guest services, reservations, and accounting, giving her a comprehensive understanding of hotel operations.
Her leadership style blends operational rigor with warm, personalized service—essential to the intimate and sophisticated experience of Inkaterra La Casona. Thanks to her broad expertise, Luisella leads the property with a deep commitment to detail and guest wellbeing.
Braulio Puma
Resident Manager at Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba

Born in Cusco, Braulio is a professional guide with studies at the Instituto Americana del Cusco. He began his career at Inkaterra as an Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, where he developed strong expertise in ecotourism and environmental interpretation. He later became Resident Manager at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción, located in the Peruvian Amazon, where he expanded his knowledge in hospitality and conservation.
He currently leads Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba in the heart of the Sacred Valley, applying his holistic vision of sustainable tourism and personalized service. A passionate birdwatcher, Braulio shares his deep love for biodiversity and living cultures of Peru, creating authentic and memorable experiences for every guest.
Alan Huisa
Resident Manager at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción

Born in Madre de Dios in November 1982, Alan spent his childhood surrounded by the Amazon’s flora and fauna. His travels across Peru and abroad—including a memorable visit to Tokyo, Japan—deepened his appreciation for nature and cultural traditions. He studied Tourism at the Jorge Basadre Institute in Puerto Maldonado and has since built a professional career dedicated to environmental conservation.
After excelling as Head Explorer Guide in Tambopata and serving as Resident Manager at both Amazon Field Station byInkaterra and Reserva Amazónica, Alan now leads Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción, embracing a new chapter in his commitment to sustainability and hospitality.
Tony Sánchez
Resident Manager at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica

Born in Madre de Dios and a graduate in Ecotourism from the National Amazonian University of Madre de Dios (UNAMAD), Tony grew up in the Manu Biosphere Reserve, where his passion for conservation and sustainable tourism began. He has worked across various Inkaterra properties, standing out for several years as Front Office Manager at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica, where he demonstrated a strong commitment to hospitality and service excellence.
He is also a teacher of traditional Amazonian music and dance, representing the region’s cultural heritage across Peru. As co-founder of a youth-led environmental education collective in Madre de Dios, Tony now leads Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica, where his dedication to nature and local culture enriches each traveler’s experience.
Marco Huamán
Resident Manager at Amazon Field Station byInkaterra

A biologist with a specialization in Environmental Ecology from the National University of San Antonio Abad in Cusco, Marco has been part of Inkaterra for over 17 years. He has worked as an explorer guide at Reserva Amazónica and Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, while also leading environmental conservation projects and supporting orchid care initiatives.
He is currently the Resident Manager at Amazon Field Station byInkaterra, where he enthusiastically shares his passion for orchids and birdwatching, offering travelers an authentic experience in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.
José Purisaca
ITA Inkaterra Association - General Manager

A graduate in Biology from the National University of San Marcos, José Purisaca has been committed to nature conservation since 1980. He joined the Inkaterra group in 1991 and, alongside Mr. José Koechlin, co-founded the NGO Inkaterra Asociación (ITA), where he has led scientific projects focused on research, conservation, and environmental education.
With a distinguished career in ecotourism, José has collaborated with institutions such as the World Bank, the United Nations, and the National Geographic Society, developing studies and programs that have contributed to the protection of fragile ecosystems in the Peruvian Amazon and Andes. His scientific approach and dedication to sustainability have been key in positioning Inkaterra as a pioneering organization in purposeful tourism.
