NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY

Known for his photo spreads featured in GQ, Rolling Stone and Esquire, Danish filmmaker Morten Andersen shot a new video for El MaPi by Inkaterra, established at the heart of the picturesque Machu Picchu Pueblo.

The smart, contemporary and cozy confines of El MaPi spark a lively and friendly atmosphere, welcoming guests who expect an unfussy, down-to-earth break after visiting Peru’s wonder – the Machu Picchu archaeological site. The flowing lobby creates a sense of vitality, while the stylish bar offers an array of signature drinks. Lofty ceilings, panoramic windows and an open café welcome natural light, filtered between tall eucalyptus dried branches, creating a pleasant and wholesome environment.

Inkaterra’s video highlights the new Spa del Bosque, an elegant organic spa located on the top floor of El MaPi. With breathtaking panoramic views of the Andean cloud forest, Spa del Bosque delivers a most pleasant sense of order and wellbeing.

MACHU PICCHU SCHOOLCHILDREN
LEARN ABOUT NATURE IN SUMMER VACATIONS

Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel’s resident biologist, Carmen Soto, led her 14th Summer Workshop for Machu Picchu Pueblo’s schoolchildren, focused on raising awareness on the value of biodiversity and the sustainable use of natural resources.

Through fun games and experiments, children and their families get to learn about environmental care in the Andean cloud forest adjacent to Machu Picchu Pueblo – one of Peru’s most biodiversity-rich environments within urban limits. At the grounds of Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, 214 bird species were inventoried, as well as 372 native orchid species were inventoried, 20 of which were described by Inkaterra research associates as new to science.

INKATERRA ASOCIACIÓN ORGANIZES
PEARL JEWELRY WORKSHOP IN CABO BLANCO

NGO Inkaterra Asociación, in alliance with the National Fishing and Aquaculture Innovation Program (PNIPA) and AGROMAR, held a pearl jewelry workshop for the Cabo Blanco coastal community.

This educational program is part of pearl harvesting initiative, which promotes the sustainable use of rainbow-lipped pearl oysters (Pteria sterna), a native bivalve mollusk that grows in the shallow waters of Northern Peru. This main source of pearls and nacre-derived products has much potential for responsible jewelry, as well as for ecotourism. Additionally, pearl harvesting in Cabo Blanco will rely on a 100Ha marine area – an effort to conserve marine diversity from illegal fishing in the Tropical Sea of Peru.
