NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2017

Promoting a regional bird-based tourism strategy for sustainable development across the Pacific Alliance, Inkaterra organized a FAM trip for 23 tour operators invited by Procolombia, government agency in charge of tourism, foreign investment and exports promotion. In an attempt to create a common offer in the region, the mission encouraged the declaration of more local reserves to conserve endemic species, as well as safe routes for migratory birds across the Pacific Alliance.

The group was hosted at Inkaterra Guides Field Station, the most recent addition to Inkaterra’s portfolio. The event addressed Inkaterra’s birding protocol, revealing the purpose of flora and fauna inventories performed since 1978. Equivalent to Costa Rica’s total bird diversity, 903 bird species have been registered at Inkaterra hotel grounds and areas of influence, confirming Peru as a top destination for birders.
