INKATERRA ATTENDS PURE LIFE EXPERIENCES 2016
Since its establishment in 2009 by travel visionaries Serge Dive and Sarah Ball (Beyond Luxury Media Ltd.), PURE Life Experiences has created a platform to reimagine high-end, experiential travel with a positive impact on conservation. Held on 12-15 September at Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, the 2016 edition sparked innovation through inspiring meetings, conferences and seminars. Inkaterra took part in the event with two stands, showcasing its properties in the National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World alliance and in Relais & Châteaux.
Winner of last year’s Contribution to Experiential Travel Award, Inkaterra Founder José Koechlin attended PURE for the first time and was able to share the innovative approach with which he has pioneered ecotourism in Peru since 1975.

FORBES MAGAZINE FEATURES CANOPY TREE HOUSE AT INKATERRA RESERVA AMAZONICA
Built amid rainforest treetops at one end of the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway, a hanging-bridge system at 100ft above the ground, the Canopy Tree House offers one of most fascinating travel experiences in the Amazon. Contributor Ann Abel visited Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica in search of the 10 luxury resorts with sky-high views for the September issue of Forbes magazine. “Vertigo has never been so much fun… All 35 cabanas at this eco-chic resort fronting the Amazon River are perfectly lovely. But the most dramatic is the Canopy Tree House,” says Ann Abel about this privileged view from the top.

INKATERRA CELEBRATES WORLD TOURISM DAY
Ecotourism plays a key role in conserving cultural and natural resources. Such is its positive impact, that United Nations General Assembly has declared 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. On September 27, Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel celebrated World Tourism Day to raise awareness on environmental care in the Andean cloud forest. Activities focused on flora and fauna observation, including a walk around the Inkaterra Orchid Trails (according to the American Orchid Society, the world’s largest native orchid collection in its habitat, with 372 species) and a birding excursion in search of some of the 214 bird species registered in hotel grounds.

PERUVIAN TROPICAL SEA IS DECLARED ‘HOPE SPOT’ BY IUCN AND MISSION BLUE
The Peruvian Tropical Sea was acknowledged as one of the fourteen new ‘Hope Spots’ during the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2016 held in Hawaii. The effort was led by marine biologist Yuri Hooker (Universidad Cayetano Heredia), Eduardo Salcedo (Follow E.G.S., Florida) and Nina Pardo (Ecopesca), who provided scientific studies on the area’s high rate in species diversity. Aiming to promote the declaration of marine protected areas, the ‘Hope Spots’ initiative was conceived by Dr. Sylvia Earle, founder of Mission Blue, one of the world’s most influential organizations committed to ocean conservation.
