Percy Ccopa Head Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Percy was born in Puerto Maldonado, known as the Biodiversity Capital of Peru. Percy is interested in nature and the learning of new species since childhood. He began working as a biologists' assistant in a beetle project, inside the ACCA conservation area. His father taught him how to work in the brazilian-nut harvesting and lumber industries of the region. During these years, he took on his fathers' knowledge and the techniques of survival in the rainforest. In 2000, he began studies to become an oficial tourism guide and, after graduation introduced himself to the wonderful world of the rainforest. In July 2006, Percy joined the Explorer Guide's group of Reserva Amazonica Hotel. He is an excellent guide with experience in different lodges. Nowadays, Percy enjoys his job and due to his passion for birds he is carrying out a birdwatching project in the area. Percy is also into photography so keep an eye for our "Inkaterra Photo Contest" results. |

Alan Huisa Assistant Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Born in Puerto Maldonado in November 1982, Alan was raised surrounded by flora and fauna. He has lived most of his life in Madre de Dios but has had the chance to visit other interesting cities in and out of the country. From Lima, the capital, all the way to Tokyo Japan, Alan has been learning from different customs and cultures, appreciating every single one of them. Due to Alan's passion with nature he has always looked for work related with conservation and environment. Having studied Tourism at the "Jorge Basadre" Institute in Puerto Maldonado, he currently works as an environmental Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica. |

Moises Sanchez Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Moisés has been part of the rainforest life since birth. Having been born in Puerto Maldonado in 1980 he has been in contact with nature since childhood. Before working in the tourism industry, Moisés has worked with lumber, Brazilian nut collecting, gold mining and in farms. During those years he learned to appreciate value and respect the Amazon Rainforest. This is why he began to study the career of "Official Tourism Guide" at the Instituto Superior Tecnológico in Puerto Maldonado, were he obtained more information and knowledge regarding animals, vegetations, and history. Now a day he is a current Explorer Guide at Reserva Amazonica lodge. He has a preference for the Amazon mammals, especially sloths. Esto dado que ya no es parte del proyecto de clay licks. |

Wilson Escalante Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Wilson was born in Cusco but raised in Puerto Maldonado city. Since a child he has been in contact with nature. Before working in tourism Wilson has worked in the lumber industry, Brazilian nut collection, gold mining and farming. During those years he learned to appreciate value and respect the Amazon rainforest. This is why he began to study to be an Official Tourism Guide at the "Instituto Superior Tecnologico - Jorge Basadre Grohman" in Puerto Maldonado. While studying he obtained more information and knowledge regarding animals, vegetation and history. Now a day he is an Explorer Guide at Reserva Amazonica and has developed an interest in bird life. |

Jesús Cieza Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Jesús was born in Puerto Maldonado city, one of the unique areas in the World with a huge diversity of flora and fauna. He is one of four brothers and sisters and comes from a local miner family. Jesús finished high school in 1999. Then continued his studies at a Technical Institute where it took him five years to become a tourism guide. It took him five years because two of them he spent it working to finish it. Jesús has worked in mining, logging and other local activities. He has worked as a tourism guide since 2006 in others lodges and for a short period as free-lance guide. Jesus has been with Inkaterra since 2008 and is developing his passion for birds. |

Elías León Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Elías was born in Cusco. He is the second of nine brothers and sisters. We he turned 8 years old, his family migrated to the rainforest. There he learned Spanish (Quechua being his native tongue) and about the animals, plants and culture of the rainforest. Before working in tourism, Elias worked in coffee and cacao collection, lumber industry and gold mining. Elias also had the privilege of staying at a ranch with native people from a tribe. In 1998 he began work at a lodge as a guide. From 2001 to 2003 he studied to be an Official Tour Guide. He then worked at different tourism companies as well as in the Inca Trail. Currently Elias forms part of the Inkaterra Ecotourism staff. He likes fishing, swimming and looking for anacondas. Elias has a special passion for folklore and rainforest ethno-botany. |

Anabel Jaquegua Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Anabel was born June 6th of 1987 and is the third of 5 children all born in Puerto Maldonado. She studied at the "Tecnologico Jorge Basadre" Institute, where she graduated as an Official Tourism Guide. She began work gaining experience as a receptionist in different lodges in Madre de Dios. Afterwards Anabel began work as a guide just before joining Inkaterra as a receptionist to better her English, flora and fauna knowledge. Anabel loves everything related to nature, specially butterflies and trees. She now enjoys taking guests on full day excursions. Anabel speaks fluent Spanish and English. |

Glhemm Ccari Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Jesus Glhemm Ccari was born in Puno city, in 1984. Since he was a kid Jesus was interested in nature, its wildlife, and in learning English as a second language. When he was 16 years old he decided to move to Puerto Maldonado, considered as Peru's "Biodiversity Capital". With his uncle's support Jesus worked as an English teacher and studied at the "Jorge Basadre Grohmann" Tourism Institute for three years to be a guide. He got his degree as a Tourism Official Guide and in 2005 began work as naturalist guide. In 2010 he joined Inkaterra. As an Explorer Guide Jesus plays a very important role transmitting valuable information about conservation and sustainable development to the guests that stay at Inkaterra. His main interests are: photography and birds. At the present, he is in charge of a project about vagrant and migratory birds along the Madre de Dios River. |

Jackson Villalobos Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Jackson was born in a village located a three-day boat ride from Puerto Maldonado. Due to this, Jackson has always been in contact with native people and surrounded by nature. He studied in a community close to his father`s farm so he was able to capture the knowledge and secrets of the rainforest from the elders. As soon as he finished school he moved to the city and began studying to be an Official Tourism Guide. His first jobs where related to Brazil nut collecting, timber and fishing. It was there he decided to do something for the environment and joined Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica. Now a day's Jackson is interested in snakes and everything related to them, from feeding behavior all the way to reproduction. |

Luis Ortiz Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Luis Ortiz was born in the province of Manu and is the second oldest of five. When he turned 5 years old his family moved to the Tambopata area. There he grew up in a farm surrounded by an immense flora and fauna. He has been in touch with the jungle ever since. Luis learned to survive in the jungle thanks to the experience he got working for many years as a lumber jack and a Brazil nut collector. These experiences drove him to take conscience of the forest destruction and therefore decided to study to be a guide at an Institute. In 2004 he began as a naturalist and conservationist guide working in many tourist lodges and has now joined Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica. His main interests are medicinal plants and wildlife spotting. |

Noemí Espinoza Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Noemi developed her passion for nature when she finished high school in Lima and began to travel. She decided to study to be a National Certified Tour Guide. When she visited the rainforest for the first time Noemi discovered she wanted to live the rest of her life contemplating nature. There she began work at the Tambopata National Reserve in 2009. Her love for nature led her to travel to native communities, along the Alto Madre de Dios River, and to other national protected areas such as Manu National Park. Noemi is very skillful in finding rare insects and birds, and she also enjoys learning about different cultures. You can find Noemi at Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica sharing her knowledge of the Peruvian rainforest with travelers. |

Jose Vargas Explorer Guide at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile José Vargas was born and raised in Puerto Maldonado. He comes from a big family; 3 sisters and 9 brothers. He is one of the most experienced Explorer Guides around, and this is why he has been working at Inkaterra for little over than 15 years. Before that he worked with timber, as a gold miner, a boat driver, a brazilian nut collector and as a fisherman. José also lived 4 years in Europe being the reason why he speaks fluent french and italian. Due to all of this knowledge, José is a very valuable Explorer Guide in our team. |
