First, they built raised platforms, opening a trail without causing much disturbance of the environment. Secondly, timber was procured, selected to be resistant to weather conditions (rain, humidity, and the same Aguajal waters), including quinilla and al tornillo. The wood was purchased at authorized lumber which had their respective contracts of extraction and transport guides. The transfer from the lumber shops to the pier near the Canopy was conducted in chatas (wide platform rafts), and then the unloading to the work place was done manually and in some cases, using a cart to speed up the transfer. On the third stage, they dug one-meter deep holes to set the posts of the quinilla, which is the resistance base of the bridge. The number of people who worked was initially 12 people, and then dropped to 8, since construction is done in parts. Next, the fourth stage was the placement of the beams that joined the posts to the base of the bridge to form a base where they nailed large planks to form the bridge and platforms. After this, floor boards are fitted on the bridge and platforms. Finally, wooden hand rails were installed on both sides of the catwalk to prevent any accidental fall (see photo). The bridge consists of 4 sections and three platforms with a total length of 200 meters. It has entrance stairs elevated 1 meter from the ground which allows a space between the bridge and the ground when water rises during rainy season. The first stretch of the bridge is 18.2 meters long and goes through some low foliage of heliconias and small shrubs and connects to the first 4x5 meter platform, where they conduct the introductory talk about what will be seen throughout the excursion. |

Continuing to the second stretch of the bridge, with a length of 63 meters, one can see the first fruits of the aguaje palms during the months of November to January. Also there are renaco trees which are epiphytes. In the second 5 x 5 meter platform, guests can walk the ramp over solid ground, where they can observe birds, mammals, and dense vegetation. The third part of the walkway is 45.3 meters long and has other types of palms like the huasai, pona and aquatic plants and dense vegetation. The third platform has also the same size as the second where one can see a landscape of huasai palms which emerges in this thick tropical forest.
The fourth stretch of the bridge has a length of 50.7 meters and has typical plants species growing in this type of habitat. Finally, the fourth leg ends in an exit stairway and a small platform where guests return near the starting point of the Aguajal Bridge.
