Inkaterra
Butterfly House

The Inkaterra Butterfly House, located near Puerto Maldonado’s Airport, is both a butterfly garden and a welcome/information center for travelers. This restful place includes a Coffee Shop, waiting room, restrooms with showers, baggage storage, Internet and a Souvenir Shop. Butterflies are raised in the laboratory, where the larvae of different species are grown; a large garden offers the opportunity for observing butterflies in a natural habitat. Travelers can also learn at the information center about the diversity of the flora and fauna in the Tambopata National Reserve.

Peru boasts the greatest number of butterfly species in the world, with over 3,700 identified species accounting for 20 percent of the species found anywhere on earth. For this reason, The Inkaterra Butterfly House offers an interactive experience with the world of these colorful creatures.
