Inkaterra Hotels

Inkaterra hotels are located in the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, near the Tambopata National Reserve, and in the city of Cusco. The Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel is in the cloud forest at 2,020 meters above sea level, being in one of the nine life zones in the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, which comprises 32,592 hectares (80,537 acres), which goes from 1,700 masl (5,577 feet of altitude) up to 6,271 masl (20,574 pies above sea level), which is the summit of the snow peak Salkantay.

Our Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica lodge is located across the river from the Tambopata National Reserve (278,284 hectares / 687,658 acres). This reserve is home to impressive groups of animals such as the giant nutria or giant river otter, the big anaconda, the otorongo or jaguar, the ocelot, the harpy eagle, colorful macaws, the collared peccary and the tapir. Scientific research reports 632 species of birds, 103 species of amphibians, 169 of mammals, 103 of reptiles, 205 species of fishes, 1,122 species of butterflies, 151 species of dragonflies, and 29 species of tiger beetles. Also the lodge is next to the Inkaterra Ecological Reserve which contains more than 7,000 hectares of tropical Amazon rainforest, where NGO Inkaterra Asociación has scientifically registered 136 species of mammals, 420 species of birds, 65 of amphibians, 85 of reptiles, 1,483 of invertebrates, and 1,266 species of flora. Our boutique hotel Inkaterra La Casona is located in the historic city of Cusco, just a block from the main plaza, on the Plaza las Nazarenas, one of the most visited plazas in the city because of its impressive architecture.

Hotel facilities have been designed according to local cultures, maintaining the native Ese´Eja style in Madre de Dios and the Andean style in Machu Picchu. The construction materials are from the locality and the design does not alter the landscape of the surroundings. In the city of Cusco an old colonial mansion from the 16th century has been restored, which has been converted into a successful boutique hotel with 11 elegant suites, with an ambiance of cultural fusion which gives a ‘Peruvian’ sense.
